No Training - 17th - 25th November 2008 inclusive
The club will be closed for training from 17th November to 25th November inclusive. The reason is explained below.
In short, we have secured a commercial arrangement with ACP Magazines for the hire of the hall for a "Good Food Affare" in which the entire Showground will be occupied between 21st -23rd November with days either side for moving in and moving out
The "deal" will help us to do more work on the Dojo (building), allow purchase of more mats, and allow more funding to athletes, provide a goodwill benefit with ACP Magazines, goodwill benefit with the Showground because we will give them a one-off donation, goodwill benefit to BJJ and Aikido, because we will give them 2 months rent free for the missed sessions, and all 3 clubs will benefit because the hall may be painted in the process.
We will be allowed to leave all our filing cabinets in place, and will be able to store items in the change room which we would normally have to remove, because that area is being partitioned off from the rest of the hall. ACP are also providing labour to assist with us moving out and moving in, and extra on-site container storage, so it won't be as difficult as the move-out early in the year. The downside is that we have to move everything else out of the hall for one week 17/11/08 to 25/11/08.
We are arranging a small working bee for Sunday afternoon 16/11/08 at 3pm so that we can make some preparations. I believe that we have sufficient help for the 16/11 and I will oversee the 17/11 activities, but if anyone is interested in helping over this time, please see Rob. Club Committee members will assist on 16/11.
We will also start to remove all the posters and flags over the next few weeks so help from the dads watching their kids at training would be greatly appreciated.
For the move back into the hall, again we will have access to some labour on Tuesday 25/11/08 (6pm) to move the big stuff back from a storage container and from the shed next door. The Committee will be involved in this but we also seek assistance from anyone who can help from 6.00pm to locate the frame for the mats, secure the frame to the sub-floor, lay the mats, lay the wood-backed mats and timber frame at the crash-mat end of the hall, and relocate the carpet, furniture, trophy cabinet, tables, book case, etc. Again, please see Rob re your availability (it's normally a training night and you're sure to get a good workout!)
On Tuesday (25/11) night, while we move back into the hall, Kerrye may arrange something for the Juniors competing in the first selection event (30/11) with crash mats and running outside the hall. A separate note will be issued at training on this.
Although inconvenient (as we already have to move out once a year), this is an exceptional one-off opportunity and the Committee believes is in the best interests of the Club. See us if you need more detail.
