Spring KYU Grades & Masters Tournament, Homebush - 7th October 2012 - RESULTS

Congratulations to Frank Zou for participating in his first competition. At 16 years old, and not long promoted to Orange Belt Frank is still a Cadet and competed in the 73kg Senior Men Kyu Grades (Orange and Green Belts) event. Whilst no medal this time, he displayed a good level of intensity getting a few scores along the way. Getting used to the difference between club randori and competition intensity is the main objective as well as understanding the rules and referee judgements. Frank was joined in the same division by David Willison, who as a mature-age competitor (technically a Masters athlete) elected to compete in the Open Age Orange and Green Belt category albeit somewhat older than his 4 opponents, including Frank. Again, whilst no medals on this occasion, his willingness to compete and the experience gained in another competition demonstrates great spirit and acceptance of an individual challenge, in particular for a late 40s athlete.  Congratulations to both these athletes for a great display of spirit and personal development.
