State Titles 6-7 March
Third State Team Selection Event for 14s, Cadets, Jnr and Snr Men / Women)
Please read carefully. This competition format is quite different for NSW State competitions with the new age categories introduced, all categories played over two days of the same weekend, 14s and Cadets weighing Saturday and only 14s playing Saturday, Junior and Senior Men / Women weighing in and playing Sunday with Cadets. We have queried a number of issues with the Board of Management and a new info sheet could still be released. Main points to note:
* "Cadets entering the junior men or junior women divisions must be minimum 2nd kyu or above and wear appropriate belt". Eventually the National body may change the grading system to align with the new age categories and the current grade conversion system might disappear. Until then, minimum grade for Jnr and Snr Men / Women at NSW events is Senior Orange belt but only Cadets can compete in these divisions. Therefore Cadets who are minimum Blue belt may play up in higher age categories. Athletes eligible for the 14s category cannot play Cadets or Jnr or Snr Men / Women even if they are Blue belt.
* Cadets who intend to compete in Junior Men / Women and / or Senior categories do not need to reweigh for these age categories on Sunday morning as they will actually be competing at that time in their own Cadet category. This also means that confirmation of their entry needs to occur on Saturday when they weigh-in for Cadets.
* Note that there is no competition for Cadets on Saturday - Weigh-ins for Cadets is held on Saturday to allow the Draw to be completed and make an early start to the comp Sunday. Volunteers and referees will be critical then.
